I am receiving a morebeer conical this weekend. It is going in an upright freezer and I am controlling the temp by placing a controller probe on the outside of the conical with insulation. I also plan to monitor the temperature inside the thermowell. However, I will only be able to check it once a day.

Anyone know of a device that will record temperature readings?

Not cheap, but a device that works. Use these at work, biggest drawback is that it's (6) AAA batteries only but last a long time, DC power supply retrofit did caused measurement issues and had to abandon that plan. The (2) type K theromcouples that come with are good.

On a simpler note, I have an Acu-Rite Weather Station thing that displays indoor, outdoor temps, barometric pressure, and date/time. The outdoor probe is wireless, so I can stick it in my kegerator to monitor my temps in there. The best part is that the weather station has 'daily high' and 'daily low' display, so I can look at it and see that my kegerator has been down to 35F and up to 42F today. It's not real-time logging, but it's cheap and will tell you if your beer got too warm.
