Two weeks ago, I teach my friend Tom to homebrew. A week later, someone comes in to his pizza place, sees the fermentor and asks him "if he's interested in some brewing stuff I have". So, Tom gets a delux Bierhaus brewing kit, unused, for $30 and a large pizza. Two 7 gallon buckets, lids, bubblers, hydrometer, siphon, capper, caps, etc. And two extract kits.

He decides to build a keggerator. Someone gives him a working 17 cu. ft. frig, FREE. The local brewing supplier tells him there aren't any used cornies around anymore, new ones are $110. I'm on my way to Joel's place in Corvallis for makings & say I'll check. Joel has 300 used cornies! So, I come back with 4 used cornies @ $25 each. Did I mention Joel has tested these kegs AND throws in a gasket kit for each?

I drive back to the Holy Canolli. Damned if someone hasn't dropped off a new 6.5 gallon glass carboy for Tom, because "I've got five and only use three."

There Ain't No Justice!

I might mention, Tom makes the best pizza between Salem, OR and Maui, so I don't wish him ill. I just don't understand why I always have to pay retail!

Kick Tom's butt for me next time you see him. There's just no justice in the world. On second thought, wish him well for me. I'm glad it came easy for somebody. Who better than a man who brings pizza into the world ?
