I just bought my first used 5 gal Bourbon Barrel. Now, I have to decide what to brew. My thought is to start out with a big RIS because, from what I understand, the barrel will have the strongest flavor the first time I use it and i will want a massive beer to stand up against the stronger flavors of the barrel. After the RIS, I will do an Imperial Brown or Quadrant, and finally an IPA.
Is my understanding correct? Should I start out with the biggest beer first and then move to the smaller beers? Thanks.
