Planned on making a 10 gallon ipa tomorrow an digit to make my starter. I went to my LHBS to pick up two vial of WL California ale yeast but the only had one vial. I have already prepared the DME which was two pints of water to one cup of DME. Will one vial be ok for that size starter?

No, one vial is barely enough with that sized starter for an IPA for 5 gallons.

Can you use another package of yeast for the second 5 gallons?

I don't have another vial to use. The LHBS only had one. I guess I can hold off until I get some more yeast.

It's good to have friends that brew! My buddy has a vial that he is willing to let me have. Thanks for the help

Cheers
