Hey guys, I was a little less than prudent drying off my brew kettle which is stainless and it now has some pretty serious spotting.

The cosmetic issue doesn't bother me at all but I wanted to know if this spotting damages the kettle in any way.

What "color" are the spots? Could they just be hard water deposits, or dried wort - or do they look like rust?

If you're concerned, grab a Scotch-Brite pad (aka "green scrubby") and scrub 'em down to bright metal, then dry well and the stainless will regrow the passivation layer in minutes...

Cheers!
