SS braids for hops filters...will they work?

Hops leaves are sticky little fellers. I would suspect offhand that you may find your braid pretty seriously covered and plugged if you had a bunch of loose hops in there.
 
I had a braid in my kettle for years. I had a copper T just off-center with a 6" diameter braided ring.

Whole hops are no problem. The flow slows a bit, but will empty every time.

Forget about pellets, use a bag. It will clog in seconds and you'll be siphoning to the fermenter.
