So I made a recipe and I'm looking to brew it tomorrow. Now rather than going the full 5 gallons I'm thinking of making a smaller 3 gallon batch to kinda feel the brew and recipe out. Thing is I have a wyeast smack pack for 5 gallons, so is there a way to split this up and salvage what I don't need?? Maybe pour what I need in the 3 gal batch and make a starter from the rest?? Or would it be best to just do the whole 5 gallons???

Pitch the whole thing, unless you are going to keep some to add to a starter for later in the week. Assuming you are going to brew again in a couple of days.

Good call on just pitching the whole thing; I won't have enough grains on hand to make another brew a couple days later using a starter

Estimated OG is 1.064 according to beersmith
