I bottled my first mead this morning, Malkore's Not-So Ancient Orange Mead.

I found both of them (1 clove and 2 clove variants) to be VERY spicy! I've only had two other meads before, both commercial, so I am not qualified to say how tasty my mead is. It was definitely drinkable, just not what I expected.

I was curious if anyone ever mixes this with something else? I thought it might make a nice fall / winter drink by mixing it with apple cider (non-alcoholic).

Your end flavour depends on whether you've aged it or not.

I've not tried Malkores version, but IMO the original version isn't ready when cleared. It needs at least 6 months ageing.......

I only sampled one sip from each jug when I was bottling. I'm planning to age the bottles until winter. I would think that the spice flavor is not something that would go away with age. Is that an incorrect assumption? I'm a n00b with meads, so I'm not sure.
