my dogs go crazy for them also. just made 3 cookie sheets worth today. tried to go from memory and forgot the peanut butter, they turned out ok and i am sure the dogs will love them
Mine are getting better... They look like bones now. Haven't sold any per say but friends have given me money for them but that covered supplies and maybe a little of my time. Nothing to quit my day job for. Better then dumping the grains in the trash.

Did you use the Demarle mold for those?
Not sure. I dropped my car off to have the oil changed. Was walking around the shopping center and they had a Tuesday morning? I walked in and got the man scowl, "What are you and your penis doing in here" look. Anyway its like a close-out place and they had some copper dog bone cookie cutters. They had 3 in the container and middle one makes the perfect size i think.
This is them, but they were like 5 bucks i think. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004GJXO9K/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20
I use the beater attachment, not the dough hook, or beater... Does a really good job on mixing it all up (hence why they include it)...
Don't own a hand mixer... Closest thing I have is an immersion blender...
Your dog that is! Don't throw that grain away, make some doggie treats for your furry friend. They love them! Got this recipe from Beerrific a couple of days ago.
Original recipe:
4 cups spent grain
2 cups flour
1 cup peanut butter
2 eggs
Mix all ingredients thoroughly. Press down into a dense layer on a large cookie sheet. Score almost all the way through into the shapes you want. Bake for about half an hour at 350 F to solidify them. Loosen them from the sheet, break the biscuits apart and return them, loosely spread out on the cookie sheet, to the oven at 225 F for 3 to 4 hours (or until they are really dry) to prevent mold growth. Store in an airtight container to keep them dry and mold-free.
Thanks to Beerrific for the recipe, my mini doxie love them! I modified the recipe a bit and cut out my cookies and then put them on a sheet at 225 for 3 hours. They are completely dry and I'm sure she'll be happy when she wakes up.

Just don't give chocolate to the dogs
if I don't slow him down, my lab can plow through 10 lbs of spent grain in a single sitting. In talking with a few vet friends, no real worries as long as this isn't a frequent thing. He is basically a furry garbage disposal......who fortunately lives outdoors.
