Soda as a beer brewing ingredient?

I saw there was another thread where this was mentioned, but that was it; can soda be used as one of the primary ingredients in beer? I'm sure it wouldn't taste like normal beer, but it could be interesting to make a beer out of Coke with some finishing grains to round out the taste.

Does anyone know if high-fructose corn syrup is very digestible to yeast? Will this just taste nasty? Anyone tried this?
