I put this together in beersmith, but I don't believe the color one bit though. I'm looking for as light (in color) pale ale w/o doing late additions. What is a more accurate SRM color? My wort will be between 4.5-5 gallons. (I have a 6 gallon pot)

Type: Extract
Date: 3/31/2011
Batch Size: 5.00 gal

Ingredients

Amount Item Type % or IBU
6.50 lb Extra Light Dry Extract
1.00 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 10L
0.50 lb Cara-Pils/Dextrine
1.50 oz Pearle [8.00 %] (60 min)
1.00 oz Cascade [5.50 %] (10 min) Hops
1.00 oz Cascade [5.50 %] (2 min) Hops

Beer Profile

Est Original Gravity: 1.058 SG

Est Final Gravity: 1.015 SG
Estimated Alcohol by Vol: 5.64 %
Bitterness: 49.3 IBU Calories: 43 cal/pint
Est Color: 5.2 SRM

whats wrong with that prediction? If you do all extract at the start it may end up darker, but beersmith can't predict that. Even then, I'd guess it'd still stay in the golden range, so probably around 6SRM

BTW, I'd ditch the carapils. With 1lb of crystal already and extract which contains carapils, theres not much need for it.
