In late January I brewed a small (2g) batch of a Smoky IPA using 2 1/2 lbs of a Mesquite smoked grain and 2 1/4 lbs of Pale Ale Malt as the base. Checked it today and I believe it's done as the SG is 1.019 which is what BeerSmith predicted.

Wow the Smokey flavor really came thru. Perhaps to strong. I've done this type of brew before but the grain came from somewhere else. Dry hopped it w/1 oz of Apollo and hope the smoke mellows sometime after bottling.

BTW check out how CLEAR this is, you can easily

read the hydrometer readings.

Looks nice. Smoked grains can be tricky because they seem to vary a lot regarding how much smokiness they contribute. How old the grain is and how it's stored also seems to matter quite a bit. We need something like ISU (international smokey unit).

I bet it will change a bit after it's bottled.
