Hello all and thanks in advance for the advice. My 3rd. batch, a porter, has been in primary for 10 days. I have always enjoyed the porter style and have recently tasted my first smoked version. If I was so inclined as to smoke mine, what's the best way to go about it? Should it have been something I do during the boil, or do I do it now or sometime in the future (at bottling)?

Anyway, I've heard of chips and to stay away from any kind of liquid smoke, but what should I use & when?

Also, I have no secondary if this matters...

No No. Liquid smoke, I would suggest you steep some smoke malt with your specialty grains.
All grain if you are doing just mash with smoke malt.

Sorry, should have mentioned it was an extract kit w/steeping grains. But anyway, it's already been in primary for 10 days.
