I just gave a smack pack of yeast a good whack and it broke open. This is the first time something like this has happened to me. Can I still let the yeast fester in it, or is it doomed? I am planning on pitching the yeast in about 4 hours.
Thanks for the quick reply. I have the yeast in a sanitized pyrex container with a loose fitting lid on it. I am curious if I can see it come to life. In a few hours I will either pitch it or use dry yeast. I appreciate your advise ans will let you know how it turns out.
You should always have a pack of dry yeast on hand for this exact reason.
