Just brewed an ESB.
I was in a hurry, so I decided to batch sparge instead of the normal fly sparge.
Mash and sparge went well. Collected 6.75g with an efficienct of 78%:)
Boil was uneventful with three additions of whole hops totalling 4.5 oz..

Hooked up the chiller to drain from the kettle spigot into fermenter, and only got a very slow dribble of wort into the fermenter.

That's when I noticed the kettle bottom still sitting on the counter.

It's been draining for 90 minutes so far, and I've still got about another gallon to collect.

Just a brillo pad.

I back flushed the CFC to remove the hops in it. The remainder went through fairly quickly. I lost about 1/2g, but I picked up a great deal of hot break, most of which usually gets filtered out by the hops.

I'll make another batch this weekend, just in case this one doesn't come out right.

Its still hot right? just dump it into a bucket, put the screen in, then boil for another 15 minutes and collect your wort as normal. I left the screen out once but I caught it before the start of the boil.
