Don't tell me; you made that capper out of an old car jack a spare tap handle and some red paint you had lying around.
Just kidding, but seriously, I love how resourceful you guys are. Your handiwork is fantastic.

not so much... the two fridges are broken and of no use... we didn't do anything at the brewery -still no power.

we have been brewing:
cider
stout with coffee and dark chocolate
cherry liquor

Hello OPL,

I just found this thread... LOVE IT!!

I travel to TLV quite a few times a year. We stay downtown at Herods (next to the Pu$$yCat), last month I found a new pub "The Elephant" where the owner brews his own. It's about a 1/2 mile north of the David and a block off the beach.

Would like to see your set up next time Im over there. Maybe an exchange of homebrews :mug:

Steve

Someone already touched on it, but you really should install a trap under that sink if you have not already. It's dangerous and possibly stinky.

krenshaw - at the moment the brew brewspace is the kitchen stove at my partners home. the brew stand hasn't been built yet. thanks for the tip.

CaptainDucman- next time your in Israel go to the places i have mentioned earlier in the thread. if you need help contact me trow the FB link in the bottom of my post.

thank you both for the compliments

on the 15 of march we will be entering our first contest at the local supply store/pub/brewery

This is too awesome. I can say this is probably the only thread I have read every page and message. Its so neat to see whats going on in a place that seems like a world away. Keep up the amazing work and pictures.

the "birth" of x:

me and my partner ariel have different tastes in beer. he is of a more traditional one and i like to experiment a lot mostly with fruits. so... i started a small "eXperimental" brewery at home - batches of 10L using extract.

first of the line was not a beer. its a cherry tea extract that i decided to introduce champagne yeast to and carbonate it. the result was great color, great smell but lack of flavor next time i will double the amount of the tea extract.

my next experiment is to remake chunky monkey, the banana ale that went south

pomegranates? i have learned my lesson about pomegranates/cherry/strawberry last year... if you want flavor you must use a lot of it.

pomegranates is going to be ready soon to pick. for a 10L batch i am going to use 4 KG of it.

a quick update with pics:
i have made a bottle drying trolley for my home. it holds all of the equipment and is very easy to move it about

we have made wheat beer with hot chilly

i have taken about 20 pomegranates worth of juicy and added yeast to it - its been sitting for about 3 months now and tastes great

we have made polish mead

i have made a stout with the kids favorite chocolate in Israel

Hi Guys,

I'd love to visit your setup. I'm on the Golan. If you are up for a visit please reply here or my email: [email protected]

Skype: deanpowers

I'm interested in where I can guy grain and hops.

Regards,

Dean

Thought I'd reawaken this thread. Hope the brewshed is still churning out great stuff.

A little more than 30 years ago I was in Israel and we drank Macabee beer. I was in high school at the time so I didn't know any better but we enjoyed it. Are they still around?

One of these days I'll make it back to Israel. I've got some cousins who made Aliyah about 15 or 20 years ago who I could visit with.

I just made a sukkot beer using etrog zest and I (symbolically) stirred the mash using a lulav. I posted on a thread about it (search for etrog).

Take care,
michael

hi all

Macabee is still alive and well. they have a strong version now with 7.9%

Really cool pictures in this thread. You guys are so bloody creative with your brews and how you present them. Tremendous stuff.

Thanks for sharing so much.

L'Chaim!

Very cool, good to see homebrewing is alive and well in Israel. I have been over there a couple times for work. Wonderful people, great food, beautiful women. It is a great country. Sampled a few of the local brews in Tel Aviv but I sure can't remember what ones they were. Thanks for posting this. Shalom!
