Hi,
I have my first batch in primary, 7 days tomorrow. Can I transfer to a corny and prime with sugar even though I don't have c02 yet? I'm thinking I may run the risk of oxidation...

Can I leave in the primary for another week?- will be back home on jan 1

Thanks for any advice,
Stephen

If those are the only two options, I would leave it in the primary for another week. It won't hurt it, and I have also read here how corny kegs won't seal unless they are under pressure.

If I'm wrong about the latter, I'm sure someone will chime and correct me...

I'd personally go for a secondary carboy if you have one. If you don't, I'd recommend getting one. I've only kegged 3 batches thus far and have carbonated with co2 only so can't help you much on carbonating in a keg. I do know when you keg with CO2 you're to hit it with some CO2 then release a couple times to get rid of the O2 though so your oxidation comment is probably a accurate. To what point of concern I don't know either.
