Scooby hotel question

Two quick questions for the great minds of HBT.

If I want to store my scooby,

1) can I screw an airtight lid on my jar or does it need to breath?

And

2) can I put it in the fridge?

Lid is fine and refrigeration is fine.
However, check on it periodically to make sure there's no pressure buildup -- explosion is bad. If you use a "popping" lid (is there a name for that?) it will suck down when it's refrigerated and you can make sure it doesn't pop up.

I keep my hotel next to the fermenter at ambient temps. I use a mason jar with a plastic lid,they don't seal 100% without an "o"ring.
