I'll be taking a FG reading in a few days, but I'm wondering what the best way (i.e. the most sanitary) to do this will be. In Palmer's book "How to Brew", he suggests taking a turkey baster and drawing some liquid up and putting into a jar. Your thoughts? But won't this expose the wort to a lot of possible contamination or am I just being too worried?

I would just dunk the turkey baster in some sanitizer and draw some sanitizer up to make sure it's completely clean. That should be all you have to do to make sure you're sanitary.
