If it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing
For now, I'm stuck with a boil volume of 4.75 gallons based on my equipment. So, I do partial mash recipes using ~7 lbs grain and whatever DME near the end of the boil and whatever water into the fermenter to reach my desired OG and volume. Can I do this rye IPA recipe or will I get a stuck sparge? I do a split batch sparge and get 75-80% eff. The rye will be 19.72% of the total grains/extract but it'll be 31.44% of the grains in the MLT (Rubbermaid 10 gal with braid):
0.50 lb Rice Hulls (0.0 SRM) Adjunct 4.14 %
3.50 lb Light Dry Extract (8.0 SRM) Dry Extract 29.00 %
3.50 lb Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 29.00 %
2.38 lb Rye, Flaked (2.0 SRM) Grain 19.72 %
0.75 lb Cara-Pils/Dextrine (2.0 SRM) Grain 6.21 %
0.44 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 60L (60.0 SRM) Grain 3.65 %
1.00 lb Corn Sugar (Dextrose) (0.0 SRM) Sugar 8.29 %
Thanks!
