Brew day went well. Instead of running my small pump from an icewater bucket ,I just ran the hose from the house to my cheap-o copper coil and it chilled the wort from boiling to 100 in 20 minutes. By the time I had my equipment cleaned up and dollied the carboy to the basement and had some leftover turkey sandwich it was cool enough to pitch yeast.
Turned out to be more coppery than red but a beautiful color nonetheless. Hit my OG of 1.072 without an issue. Pitched 2 packets of US-04 last night and this morning shes chugging the airlock like a champ and the little bit of hop and alcohol aroma I catch from it smells good already.

Roll Tide Red ,Old Ale . turned out more of a coppery amber than red but as my first "built recipe" it tastes just like what I was aiming for. hydro'd in at 1.014 putting ABV at 5% instead of 7% . It'll do for now. It doesnt need much priming. Its got a good bit of carbonation already. Most of my previous brews tasted flat at this point. Wondering if I should cut back on my usual 1oz of priming sugar per gal ...
we'll be bottling today or tomorrow. I'm very excited about this.

I just brewed my Tiger Victory Double IPA this past Friday. Should be ready for the Cotton Bowl. I will be there.

1.072 to 1.014 is more than 5% ABV. That is more like 8%

Looks good from just down the street from you in New Market.

I'm glad you said that . When I hydro'd, the FG is came floating up only at 5% for whatever reason. 7% was my intended and expected ABV. It'll be a week or so until it gets a glass and taste test .
