I've gradually moved from extract to partial grain and just did an all grain Newcastle clone yesterday (which all signs point to being delicious). However, I noticed that the 9# of grain I used created a LOT of sediment in the mash and even some during the sparge. Most of it will probably settle out during fermentation but, for the sake of having the clearest beer possible- has anyone ever rinsed the grains before the mash to get rid of the dust?

That "dust" is just flour, in our case the starch that converts to sugar in your mash. Best tip to clear in this case is to vorlauf when you mash out. You can search "vorlauf" on HBT or Google and find plenty of information on it.
