I have been using an O2 kit for years and although I have had great results fermentation wize, the kit itself can be a bit of a pain. The barb on the regulator had a small tube which would go into 1/4 in tube to connect to a filter then to the stone on occasion a hose would often slip off one of the connectors. The other day the stone blew off about 10 seconds into oxygenating the first of two 7 gallon carboys so I was unable to finish the process and now I have a really dirty O2 stone. This has me researching new O2 equipment.

I considered the several wands available, one had a welded stone on the end which seems tough to clean and the other had a flared threaded end which seem like it could collect bacteria. I have looked at the many kits that use 2 stainless t's and a threaded stone, some even a dial thermometer for temperature but those also seem to be hard to keep clean. I already own most of the parts for this setup, all I would need is a threaded stone and a T. Now this kit form blichman seems easier to dissemble plus it has a threaded fitting on the regulator. I have also read that the filtering the O2 from those small bottles is unnecessary so I would have solid connections on the hose. So I have some questions.

For those using a setup using the Stainless T's, how do you clean them? Like this one. https://www.morebeer.com/products/s...ku7_QBiqPmZbINucjP3qYJ_di-H_FKHBiURoC5Ynw_wcB

Has anyone used the Blichman kit? http://www.blichmannengineering.com/products/line-oxygenation-kit

The kit has a 10 micron stone, they claim it will allow for better sanitation, is this size OK for oxygenating the wort? I can only find discussions on 2 and 5 micron stones.

Any other input would be greatly appreciated.

The Blichmann in line oxygenation kit is the only one I know of where wort doesn't contact threads or hose barbs. It comes with the quick-connectors, which is nice. From what I've seen in use, there's always a nice thick head that forms in the carboy during use, so I'm convinced there is some serious O2 that gets dissolved.

Off topic: If you've seen the quick carb, http://www.blichmannengineering.com/products/quickcarb the same parts are used in the o2 kit. But you would have to re-use your regulator which it sounds like you have one already.

Interesting, I never though about the QuickCarb system, I will have to think about it. It's a bit more then I wanted to spend at the moment.
