My wife and I are planning our vacation for this summer. We decided to camp our way through the NorthEast. We've traveled the area before but would like some local input. We actually enjoy planning around brewpubs, and the like, and hope to do the same again.

We're starting in central PA and heading north from there. My only requests for the trip a visits to Ommegang and Allagash, as well as a campfire more nights than not. While larger breweries are cool, we love trying the smaller, hidden gems of an area.

Do you guys have any recommendations for our travels? Anywhere between home and northern Maine is welcome input.

Thanks, in advance

If you head east before heading north you've got Weyerbacher, Funk, and Two Rivers here in the Lehigh Valley area...

In the Mass area I'd recommend hitting Treehouse in Monson, MA. Getting big but a good vibe to visit. A new place I'd call a hidden gem is Brick & Feather in Montague, MA. Trillium in Boston is nice. You can camp in Southie. Night Shift and Mystic is close by. Actually joking aside you can camp on some of the islands in Boston Harbor with really nice views of the city. That'd be different. http://www.bostonharborislands.org/#!campground-reservations/cp5x

I haven't visited the new restaurant/brewpub opened by Smuttynose up near Portsmouth NH but it looks nice https://smuttynose.com/brewery/visit-us/. Portsmouth's a nice place beerwise. Feels almost like Portland ME. There's a new microbrewery opened by a pretty famous brewer, Todd Mott, Tributary Brewery in Kittery, ME. He created recipes for Harpoon and Kate the Great for the Portsmouth Brewery. I'm sure you're going to hit Portland and there's a bunch of places around there. Ebenzer's Pub is good in ME. If you like Allagash you'll probably like Maine Beer Co.

Oxbow up in Newcastle ME makes good beer. I've had their beers but never visited. Seems like a fun place. They actually rent an airbnb brewery room there. You can't say that about many places ;)

I'd recommend camping at Sebago Lake State Park. Not that far from Portland.

Here's a Maine beer map:

EDIT: Ok. Speaking of insanity. Someone just told me about this place in Portsmouth. Please hit it up and give me a report. Search for the beer Bogmare. Apparently Moosehead has a whole new literal meaning. All vegan joking aside. You want hidden gems. This sounds like it:

As you're passing through Connecticut, I recommend Two Roads and Stony Creek. Neither are small or hidden gems, but they both have awesome taprooms with a good vibe. The beer at Stony Creek is really gooood.

Once you're at Stony Creek, you're in Branford. There are a few other breweries very close by, so you could do a little brewery crawl there.
