Can everyone look at this partial mash recipe and let me know what you think as far as flavor goes? I'm going to make this a Vanilla Bourbon in secondary...

6# Amber DME
1# British Crystal
0.5 # British Brown
0.5 # British Black Patent
0.25 # British Chocolate

1 oz Hallertaue for 60 mins
1 oz Hallertaue for 30 mins
1 oz Hallertaue for 15 mins
1 oz Hallertaue for 5 mins
0.5 oz Brewers Gold Dry Hop

I'm hoping for a full Black Ale (not a porter or stout) for a Christmas Ale. Thanks for the feedback!!

You may brew differently from the crowd, but I like to be a follower and add yeast to my beers.:tank:

I would kick the flavor, aroma, and dry hops to the curb. Get the warm, roasty toasty thing working to complement the secondary adds, instead of green verdant stuff working against them.

So would you suggest taking out the extra hops all together? Or would you suggest adding another oz to the bittering?
