I'm brewing the Rebel Brewer "Hold the Cone" kit right now.

The website says:

ALL GRAIN VERSION
OG 1.049
IBU 40
SRM (color) 5.5
Alc. % 5.2

But when I put it into Beersmith, it says 70.4 IBUs. I suspect a not-so-accurate IBU estimation from the whirlpool additions, but anyone have any input as to why the large discrepancy?

Here's what I have in BS:

8 lbs Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 1 82.1 %
1 lbs 8.0 oz Vienna Malt (Briess) (3.5 SRM) Grain 2 15.4 %
4.0 oz Honey Malt (25.0 SRM) Grain 3 2.6 %
7.00 g Centennial [9.20 %] - Boil 30.0 min Hop 4 5.2 IBUs
28.00 g Centennial [9.20 %] - Boil 15.0 min Hop 5 10.8 IBUs
28.30 g Columbus (Tomahawk) [16.00 %] - Boil 5.0 min Hop 6 11.9 IBUs
21.20 g Simcoe [13.00 %] - Boil 5.0 min Hop 7 7.3 IBUs
28.00 g Centennial [9.20 %] - Steep/Whirlpool 30.0 min Hop 8 13.6 IBUs
14.00 g Columbus (Tomahawk) [16.30 %] - Steep/Whirlpool 30.0 min Hop 9 12.0 IBUs
14.00 g Simcoe [13.00 %] - Steep/Whirlpool 30.0 min Hop 10 9.6 IBUs
14.00 g Centennial [9.20 %] - Dry Hop 7.0 Days Hop 11 0.0 IBUs
14.00 g Columbus (Tomahawk) [16.30 %] - Dry Hop 7.0 Days Hop 12 0.0 IBUs

I am not familiar with the kit but from the picture makes it look like the kit uses leaf hops? Did you make the adjustment to leaf hops in BS? Also the alpha acids in BS are not always the same as the ones you get. I always make sure to change the AA% when I receive hops.

It's pellet (which I always use). I think that's just a stock picture.

Yup, I adjusted the recipe to the AAs I received - but that's a very large discrepancy...
