Is this a sign of the collective national IQ declining or a sign that home ec isn’t taught, much, anymore?

Lawyers. And that's coming from a lawyer (though I'm not in that practice area). There is an army of lawyers waiting for anyone who does something stupid and wants to be compensated as a "victim." The lawyer takes 33-40%, plus fees.

"I didn't know I shouldn't eat raw flour!"
"I didn't know I shouldn't stick my hand in the grain auger!"
"I didn't know I shouldn't lift my child up so his head is hit by the ceiling fan!"
"Hold my beer and watch this!"

The median IQ is 100. That means half the population is dumber than that. So mfrs have to aim their labeling to the lowest common denominator. Idiocracy is a documentary.

I kinda expected to see Appalachian mountains in the background, not Rockies.
I live in a state where the Rockies are a prominent feature. That vehicle would fit right in with the out of work loggers in Western MT and give the recent CA transplants a bad case of the vapors.

I've actually seen a "truck" like that here in town. Except he's only got 6 doors on it. I think.

I recall seeing a bumper sticker in Montana once that read "The wind does not blow at fort peck, it sucks".
It is sometimes said in Montana that the reason it’s so windy here is that Idaho blows and North Dakota sucks.

Home sweet second home. Built around 1840, over the past 6 years it's been completely renovated on the inside, this year we start on the exterior renovations
God I love the stonework!
Is that doorway on the right built for today's normal height folk or then's normal height folk? (asks a 6'2" guy who has hit his head too many times)

my son is 6 3, I don\t think he ducks. That/s the old farm kitchen, to the left is the furnace room, that door is definitely short. We're debating now whether to remove the stucco over the porch and re-grout the stonework to match the rest ofthe house. By far the best stonework is the back of the house, the big barn and even the garage. Working areas of the farm got more attention than the living quarters.

Last vine ripened tomatoes of 2021...

The wife also has a grocery bag of green ones that she'll ripen as needed. Better than store-bought but not as good as these :)
Still have a bunch of peppers - mostly hot varieties - on the plants, getting redder by the day. No sign of frost in sight so we'll let 'em roll...

Cheers!
