my batch is a screw up, so its my own experiment, but it started out a mr beer kit, now I followed the mr beer kit instructions to add 1 tsp of sugar per 16 oz bottle, now i put the sugar in without dilution, is just having granulated sugar in the bottles now going to work as a primer? I know yeast will do their thing, but will this just go slower or not really work this way? Thanks

If you add the sugar that way , your Beer is in danger of contamination .

The sugar should be dissolved and the Solution must be boiled for 15 minutes .

Besides , by adding the sugar directly to the Bottle , how can you be sure that it would be dissolved completely ?!

It might help if you gently invert the bottles to swirl the sugar around inside. It will work, but it is definitely a makeshift way of priming. I think that Mr. Beer wants to emphasise the "Hey, see how easy this is?" method of brewing, sometimes to the detriment of the process as a whole. But it will work.

hey, i just went off the mr beer directions

"3.2. Add white granulated sugar to bottles
in the amounts shown below:
BOTTLE SIZE SUGAR AMOUNT
12 OUNCES . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3/4 TSP.
16 OUNCES. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1 TSP.
20 OUNCES . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1 1/4 TSP.
22 OUNCES . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1 1/2 TSP.
1 LITER/QUART BOTTLE* . . . . . . . 2 1/2 TSP.
2 LITER . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1 1/2 TBSP.
3 LITER . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2 1/4 TBSP.

Place caps on bottles, hand tighten,
then invert several times."

Its too late to worry about contamination, the step has been done

I was just wondering the difference between this way and dilution. Thanks!
