OK, maybe not purple purple, but it has a hue that has bothered me for awhile now. Here is the recipe:
Accumulator White IPA:
19 lbs Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 2 70.4 %
6 lbs White Wheat Malt (2.4 SRM) Grain 3 22.2 %
2 lbs Cara-Pils/Dextrine (2.0 SRM) Grain 4 7.4 %
1.25 oz Citra [13.90 %] - Boil 50.0 min Hop 5 22.7 IBUs
2.00 oz Citra [13.90 %] - Boil 30.0 min Hop 6 29.4 IBUs
2.00 tsp Irish Moss (Boil 10.0 mins) Fining 7 -
2.00 oz Amarillo Gold [9.30 %] - Boil 10.0 min Hop 8 10.2 IBUs
2.20 tsp Yeast Nutrient (Boil 10.0 mins) Other 9 -
2.00 oz Mosaic (HBC 369) [11.60 %] - Boil 5.0 min Hop 10 7.0 IBUs
2.00 oz Amarillo Gold [9.30 %] - Boil 1.0 min Hop 11 1.2 IBUs
2.0 pkg California Ale (White Labs #WLP001) [35.49 ml] Yeast 12 -
3.00 oz Amarillo Gold [9.30 %] - Dry Hop 10.0 Days Hop 13 0.0 IBUs
3.00 oz Mosaic (HBC 369) [11.60 %] - Dry Hop 10.0 Days Hop 14 0.0 IBUs
I keg this beer and I have always been slightly frustrated at the hue it has. Unfortunately I floated the keg so I can't post a picture. SWMBO loves this beer so I was going to brew it again and I got to thinking about how I might change it to get rid of the purple. I like the beer otherwise so I don't want to get too crazy with it.
Let me be a little more clear about the color. I intended it to be close to New Belgium's Accumulation (hence the corny name rip off) It has a really nice pale white color as a base but it is almost like someone put a drop of red and blue good coloring in it giving it ever-so slight a color. And one of the last bottles I drained (I usually bottle 5 gallons and keg 5 gallons) the trub in the bottle was almost pale grape color.
Anyway, I'm ok changing nothing because it is so good but the color will bug me.
