I keg beer but started siphoning off a 6 pack or so per brew to be able to give it to a friend or my dad or whatever.

I use carb tabs to do this. I have a lot of priming sugar though. Could I just put some in the bottom of the bottle then add the beer like I normally do with the tabs? Is there any other advantage to tabs?

Thanks as always, I ask a ton of questions here and always get great answers.

You certainly can use priming sugar, but it's a bit more difficult to get exact measurements needed for individual bottles. More likely to get bottle bombs or under carbed beer.

Thanks for anticipating my next question. For the cost of tabs I'll just stick with that.
