PH in a Partial Mash

Is the PH level critical in a PM? I know I read in Homebrewing For Dummies that the PH should be 5.0-5.5. However I never read anything about it in any PM recipes or here it talked about in PM topics.
 
It depends on how much extract you are using. The more Extract you use the less it matters.

Saying that I have the feeling that most home brewers don't adjust PH.
I've never tested mine. I hit 75%+effeciency so have never worried about it. One day I may get round to it

technically it matters, but if you get conversion and no astringency off-flavor, I don't think you have to worry.
