Perlic shank too long

Building Irish coffin keezer. Ordered the Perkins with 6" shanks for fridge door. Problem is with that length is that the coffin is going to be really far forward on the bar top. Anyone ever cut the shanks down?
 
haven't cut any down, but it wouldn't be any problem as long as you made sure there aren't any burrs on the end you cut. use a wire wheel to smoothe it down, and you should be good. no reason at all why not
 
I cut the shank on my shotgun tap so I could fit it in a tower. Mine was two small beer lines inside of a large threaded shank. I used an angle grinder, made quick work of it. Just be careful not to cut the beer tube, once you are through the shank, it'll collapse quickly and you will nick the beer tube.
