I'm looking for a Beerito clone. I found a recipe on homebrewing.com, but the hops aren't shown. It just says "HBU" pack. What's that consist of?

I brewed old chub from the recipe posted earlier in this thread, I only have a few brews on my system and got a lot higher efficiency than expected. My OG was 1.091 and FG was 1.018, so 9.8% (oops) it was in primary for 3 weeks and aged in the keg at 45 degrees for 3 months. It's good, but definitely a strong scotch ale, not a wee heavy like the original.. the wife loves it though! I feel like the color is a bit light for the original, but falls within bjcp guidelines

I'm going to revive this zombie thread... I brewed this 2 weeks ago for my third year in a row. And of course it was on a new system, going for 10 gallons since I have a habit of draining the keg too quick in November....

The first year I brewed it, it was my second time ever brewing on that system and I overshot my gravity and ended up with 9.6%, last year I had my system dialed and came in at 8.5% which was awesome. This year, I upgraded to a larger system (15g herms) and this was my first brew... Well.. I have 10 gallons of 1.095 wort bubbling away.. whoops.. I'm thinking I will have half on some oak.

Every year I brew it in March and tap it for our Halloween party, I can't wait to see how this one turns out.. maybe next years batch will finally settle in at 8%..😆

This thread is a great example of why commercial recipes can't be linearly scaled down (or up for that matter). Their process is really different with those substantially larger volumes that change hop extraction, color, flavor, etc.

I forgot to update on how last years batch turned out, but it was AWESOME! I realized why my OG was so high, when i created the 11.5 gallon equipment profile, BS3 defaulted to 75% efficiency and I get around 85% usually. This batch ended up being 10% abv and after sitting in the basement in a keg at 50* for 6 months, it was delicious!

I used half golden promise and half 2 row for the base malt, i am either going to duplicate that or, switch to 1/2 golden promise and 1/2 marris otter when i brew this years batch in a couple weeks.

Do you have your recipe posted somewhere I’d like to brew it.

I can understand having a 90 minute boil, but I cannot understand why you would add hops at 90 minutes. I would just plug in my IBUs into the software for a 60 minute addition for the NB.
