My second mead is an Orange blossom honey mead which I made last weekend. When I rack to secondary, the orange blossoms will be in full bloom here in AZ. Has anyone actually racked a mead onto orange blossoms for the ultimate orange flower mead?

I once attempted to isolate orange blossom essential oil... didn't work.

I think its very volatile and very unstable, but you can try it. I would possibly spray the blossoms with some sanitizer prior to dumping in though... which might extract a lot of the oils.

Basically I think it won't work out. But I'm all ears for experimentation.

This is a four gal. batch, so I think I will do four separate jugs, one with fresh orange blossoms. I guess I'll try about a cup of them.
