I am planning to brew a choco/coffee stout. 5ish gallon batch. The grain bill was written assuming I'll see lowish efficiency from my Igloo cooler, and to make the numbers nice and round. I have not researched these grains extensively, so please let me know if there are redundancies or excessive amounts.
Hop bill is based on what I have on hand, I am open to suggestions. Not looking for lots of hop aroma, I want mainly coffee/chocolate/vanilla on the nose.
coffee and choco nibs will be added as secondary additions, vanilla extract will be put in the keg.
grain bill, in lb:
amt grain percent
14. 2-row 70
1 carafa III. 5
1.6. crystal 120. 8
1. choco malt. 5
1.6. flaked oats. 8
0.8. lactose. 4
20. total
calculators are telling me OG 1.088, FG 1.026. I want a sweet holiday sipping beer.
hops:
1oz warrior, 60min (48ibu)
Plan on using some fresh harvested WLP001 that I've got on hand.
secondary would be a 24oz cold brew coffee and 8oz choco nib addition. i'll also add about 4oz vanilla extract to the keg. I am assuming the coffee will bump the bitterness slightly.
Thoughts? Additions or subtractions?
