How long is to long to have yeast and not brew with it ? I have a yeast dated Nov 2012, its been in the fridge since purchasing it. Will a starter be enough or should it be a case where I just pour it down the drain ?

I'm assuming you're talking about sealed liquid yeast?

Make a starter. Either it will take off and produce more yeast, or it won't.

Mrmalty.com. Plug in the gravity of the brew, the date of the yeast and it will give you information on the size of the starter you need to make. There are others online also.
