I brewed my first AG yesterday and thought It went very well, The one thing a have a question about is the OG was 1.055 instesd of 1.047. what would be the cause for the higher reading? Heres some back ground. I took the reading after pitching the Wyeast # 3787 and shaking the bucket to aerate the wort. This is a Pilsner (Patersbier). I Mash for 60 min. at 147 F. and Boiled for 60 min.

What temp did you take your reading? Sounds like your efficiency was higher than estimated, so you have more sugar in solution than you planned. If you want to lower the OG, some simple algebra will take care of it - (G1V1+G2V2)/V1+V2 = target gravity.

you triggered my memory, I did take a reading at 70f instead of 60f. thanks
