Hi All,

I am planning to do an Irish Red Ale using only Northern Brewer hops. That is because I have some northern brewer hops that i have not used and want finish them before they go old. Is this hop selection a good idea for this style?

I think it will be fine, you can always be flexible with hop selections. I have made an Irish red base and hopped it like an IPA with cascade citra and columbus.

unless your brewing for competition,, put in or use what every makes you happy.
(I'd use them if I had them)

All you need is 17-28 IBU's in the beer. Calculate enough to reach that for a 60 min addition. That is all you need in an Irish Red.

Almost any hop boiled for 60 mins is going to be okay (almost all the aroma and flavor are going to get boiled away). Currently I am using Magnum in this way for my Irish Red. You're just looking for some bitterness to balance.
