OK Guys and Gals, It has been exactly 2 weeks since I started carboy 1 of about 3 gallons of cider. It's airlocked via a rubber cork, but I don't have a siphoning tool or another available carboy as of yet. Can you let it sit on the yeast for an extended period of time? I've heard you can and others are against it. It was fresh Lalvin EC-1118 so I didn't reuse. My current method is bottle, freeze it in plastic to murk the yeast, wait a day or two and put in the fridge to let it thaw out a bit. I have it down to where the yeast is gone, cloudiness is minimal, etc.
Is it possible to safely pull the airlock quickly, force a siphoning hose in there and do it that way? Or should I let it sit on that cake? I tend to just do things and hope for the best.
