Greeting from a newbie.

The Sam Adams commercial, got me to go to their website, clicked on the link of him making homebrew. Decided, I have a pot, I have carboys, why not make beer? Seems simple enough for the first time around.

Plan on making my first batch by this sunday.

Congrats - welcome to the community - lots of information here.

Out of curiosity, what did you use your carboys for?

My dad makes wine. He just bottled last years batch. Figured I can put them to good use over the next few months. Why should they sit there empty.

what do you plan on making this sunday?

Welcome!

Welcome. Nice to see another local picking up the habit! Tons of info here to help you through any questions you may have. This site is definately an enabler! :mug:

From the joy of brewing. I don't exactly remember the name but, it's some type of brown ale. The recipe right before Naked Sunday Ale. Seems simple enough:

Two cans of dark Muntons
1/2 lb of crystal
1/4lb of black patent
gypsum (i know NYC water is soft)
Yeast
Fuggles

And a whole lot of TLC

According to the book, drinkable in 2 weeks.

On a side note, any one in the NY area shop at Homebre Too? I know there is another store out on long island, is it worth the 40 mile drive?
