So I broke down and ordered a keg after bottling for 8 years. It is a new keg and it has an oily metal kind of smell. How do I initially clean this, oxyclean? Can I let oxyclean sit in it over night?

I would use TSP that should get rid of any oil residue and take the posts off and remove/replace dip tube o rings and soak the dip tubes and posts.

Dawn dishwashing detergent, and hot water, will get rid of oily residue, then a clean with regular "brewery cleaners" should get you going, to include the above mentioned cleaning of dip tubes and o-ring replacements.

A good scrubbing, not just a soak....:D
