I put together an Irish Red recipe that turned out really well - nice and malty...although maybe a little too malty and not enough hops. I'd like to hop it up a bit and make some other mods - wanted to get some suggestions from y'all.
Here's the original recipe (10 gal.):
- 17lb 2-Row
- 0.5lb Barley (Roasted)
- 1.5lb Toasted 2-Row
- 0.5lb Crystal 20L
- 1.5oz Northern Brewer (60 min)
- 1oz Tettnanger (15 min)
- 1oz Tettnanger (5 min)
Here's what I'm thinking now (10 gal.):
- 19lb 2-Row
- 0.5lb Barley (Roasted)
- 1.5lb Biscuit (instead of Toasted 2-Row)
- (Got rid of the crystal - it seemed pointless?)
- 2oz Nugget (60 min) 14.1% aa
- 1oz Nugget (30 min) 14.1% aa
- 1oz Tettnanger (15 min) 3.6-4.1% aa
- 1oz Tettnanger (5 min) 3.6-4.1% aa
Here are the hops I have available to me: Tettnanger (3.6-4.1% aa), Nugget (14.1% aa), Cascade (5.7% aa), and Mt. Rainier (6.8% aa - new variety).
My efficiency sucks so this is based on ~65%. I'm open to any feedback. This is my first recipe I've developed from scratch.
