I use a single kettle for a HLT/BK and a Coleman cooler with a filter bag for the MLT. I use a Chugger to transfer from one to the other and recirculate thru a RIMS for step mashes (145 for 30 min, 150 for 20 min, 160 for 45 min, 170 for 10 min mashout).

Where were you 5 years ago? This seems so much easier than my rims system.

I entered all grain using batch sparging because of the simplicity. I moved to a pump because of the dangers of lifting heavy pots of hot liquor, induction to move inside, full volume mashes for the simplicity, and to the RIMS for the desire to perform [simple] step mashes.

I may add a sparge step between the initial lauter and boil in an effort to increase efficiency a bit by ringing sugars from the (nearly) spent grain.

Cheers!
