Well this is my first recipe - what do you think

Now I am going for a light tasting strong honey character.

16 oz. Gambrinus Honey Malt – Steeped for 20 minutes

3 Lbs Golden Light DME
2 Lbs Extra Light DME

1 oz amarillo 60 min
.5oz amarillo 20 min
.5 oz cascade 5 min

2 Lbs Honey at flame out

Safale s-05

Looks a bit hoppy in the balance (I'm looking at it in the calculator and predicting a BU:GU ratio of .93), but otherwise quite nice. If you added another two pounds of DME, you'd have something in classic American Pale Ale territory but with honey malt in lieu of the usual crystal. (I'd consider a dash of carapils for head.) Otherwise, you're at APA levels of hoppiness without the malt backbone to support it.

One more try - I looked at it & I did not look closely at BU's - Newbie OK!!

How about this I ran it through the calculator also (well Brewtarget software - love it)

16 oz. Gambrinus Honey Malt – Steeped for 20 minutes

4 Lbs Golden Light DME (3 might be OK also)
2 Lbs Extra Light DME

1 oz Willamette 60 min
.5oz amarillo 20 min
.5 oz amarillo 5 min

2 Lbs Honey at flame out

Safale s-05

My ABU went up - I do not know if I want that or not,
If I drop the golden Light DME to 3 & willamette to .75 oz I get the same balanced but ABU down to 5.5%

6+% might be a bit high for this beer - but... that is just me
