I capped a sour amlost 3 weeks ago

I opened it and thought it had a odd smell ( like cardboard)

My buddy not knowing all homebrew are not twist off

Went to twist the cap and it actually hissed

Am I not pressing the caps on tight enough? Or is my capper spring worn out?

How strong is your friend? It’s possible you have a bad capper or it was just that bottled but usually If you have a caper issue the beer won’t carb or if turn it over end over end kinda shaking it, the bottle should leak. I’d neither of these things are happening, then it’s fine. Cardboard is oxidation and most likely happens during crashing, racking, bottling or all 3.
