Any disadvantages to running an oversized motor for a grain mill, specifically the Monster Mill 3? I found a good deal on Craigslist on a 2 horsepower cap start, cap run brand new electric motor. It's 1800 rpm. I know this is way overkill for a grain mill, but it's almost too good of a deal to pass up.

No issue. Just use a gear reducer or pulleys to get the rpm's down and you are good. It will be a beast and crush anything you put in it.

My motor is like 1/3hp but almost the same rpm, a 2" sheave on the motor shaft and a 12" on the mill shaft should do the trick and bring you pretty close to 200 rpm

Thanks guys! The one problem I just noticed is that starting amperage is 17 amps, but my outlet is only 15 amps. Running amperage is 9 amps. I don't know if the startup will trip the breaker every time...
