Hey Everyone,
So I made a 1-gallon batch of mead using 2 pounds of honey. I had vigorous fermentation going for about a week and then this white film appeared on the inside glass of the carboy. Any idea what it is? Is it safe? Thanks for your input.

I don't really see a white film. I see some yeast residue (did the fermentation go all the way to the top?) and some co2 bubbles around the edge. Where do you see this film?

i got this exact ring when i swirled the carboy after pitching yeast. Some of the cells clung to the sides and reproduced in a film which looked exactly like that. I would wait until you have acrid smells coming out of there....then worry but for now your good.

Ota Noes!!

you are infected with Saccharomyces cerevisiae!!!

send the carboy and it's contents to me for disposal!!

;)
