I have been reading up on fermenting beer in a growler and I have a couple questions on how to do it because I'm gonna try it this weekend. If I pull out a gallon before 2nd fermentation and add fruit will it have an adverse affect on the remaining 4 gallons since there will be more air space in the fermenter? Also what would be the best way to go about adding the yeast if I split the batch directly before 1st fermentation? Pitch yeast into 5 gallons, mix and pull out a gallon? Or try to split the yeast accordingly. Thanks guys, appreciate the help!

I have a couple of 1 gal jugs I want to use for some fruit and oak aging for larger 5 gallon batches and I dont see any reason why pulling a gallon would have an adverse effect. The headspace might be an issue, but I say go for it! (that way I'll know if it works)
