Do you guys run the vorlauf straight through the pump?
I just got the pump in this week, and wondered how I
should go about this for mashing out/ batch sparging.

Thanks for any advice,
Karb

Yes, I do. I use the pump for continuous circulation during the mash and then pump the runoff from the MT to the BK. I use gravity to feed the sparge water from an elevated HLT and pump everything else. A lot depends on your mash tun configuration and what kind of screen, braid or false bottom you are using. Some use a grant and pump from it instead of directly from the MT, but I havent't found that necessary. It will take some trial and error testing to determine the best method for your particular system. The danger is a stuck mash if you pump too fast. How fast is too fast is something you will have to determine and that's not as easy as it would seem.
