manual corking of apfelwein

hey guys,

i have a bunch of empty wine bottles and i want to bottle my non carbonated apfelwein in these. i dont have a bottle corker so could i just jam a cork into the bottle and call it done?

I'm gonna go with no (?), because air will definitely be able to get in there...

You can probably shove a #7 cork in by hand, #8 with even a cheap corker, #9 forget it.

It is best to get a corker, that way your wine won't oxidize.

Think that'll work for #9 corks instead of getting a floor corker?

I have been using "zorks". They are plastic corks that work great. They can be pressed on by hand with some work or I use my beer capper for additional leverage. I got mine from midwest supply for fairly cheap. Working great for meads and apfelwein.

get a corker. you'll then have an excuse to make wine

I have been known to use a rubber mallet, not suggested, just sayin, it's been done.
